Poetic Verses

Those Days

Those days, I got so little rest
Because of wretched pain
That almost never seemed to stop
With relief hard to attain.

At least not for the first few weeks
When it would dissipate
That signaled better days ahead
For which I had to wait.

To do those very simple things
That once were done with ease
The ones I never thought about
Till losing my left knee.

Yes, my bad one had to be replaced
And with surgery a success
There was much more work I had to do
Or otherwise regress.

So I found out there was no free lunch
A price had to be paid
And without my meds and exercise
Progress would be delayed.

Oh, I'll not say it was easy
For it took so long to heal
But I somehow survived those days
By handing God the Wheel.
